Aren’t we all looking for simple and easy ways to boost our overall health. Especially one that doesn’t require mixing and measuring or buying expensive health products. Well that simple answer is lemon water. Yes, you heard me correct. Lemons and water. That’s it. Told you it was super easy.
So you are saying how can lemon water boost my health benefits? Well, I am going to share with you all 7 reasons to drink lemon water each day and how the healthy benefits of incorporating this simple daily habit can change your overall health.
I have been drinking lemon water each day for about 5 years and I love it. It is a great way to get going in the morning and to start your day off on the right foot.
Helps Balance pH
Did you know that lemons are alkaline? They are. Even though they are an acidic fruit on their own, when they are introduced into our bodies they become alkaline.
Keeping your body in an alkaline state is the key to maintaining a healthy body and strong immune system.
Even though lemons are small, they are packed with great vitamins and nutrients. They contain vitamins B & C, potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron and other antioxidants.
The vitamin C in lemons can help ward off colds and the potassium can help maintain a healthy blood pressure.
We’ve all seen skin care products that contain vitamin C and how it is promoted to decrease wrinkles and blemishes. Guess what? Lemons can do the same thing from the inside out at a fraction of the cost of expensive beauty products.
Drinking lemon water rids the body of toxins from the blood which helps keep your skin looking healthy and clear.
Helps Your Digestive System
Drinking warm lemon water helps with bloating and gas. It can also aid your digestive tract to keep things moving along.
Can Help Support Weight Loss
I am a firm believer that wen you start your day off on a good foot your are more likely to stick with it all day. That’s why I always start my day with a glass of warm lemon water. By keeping your body in an alkaline state it can help you lose weight faster.
Also the pectin in lemons can help you fight hunger cravings which in turns causes you to eat less so you can lose weight or maintain your current weight.
I don’t know about you but this is enough for me to continue drinking lemon water every day.
Lemons naturally increase your rate of urination which helps flush toxins out of your body faster which keeps your urinary tract healthy. Lemon water is also good for people who or plagued with kidney stones.
Hydrates Our Bodies
When you wake up each morning your body is already dehydrated. So what better reason than to start your day with a glass of warm lemon water.
A body that is dehydrated cannot perform at its fullest potential which can lead to toxic buildup, stress, constipation and more.
Staying hydrated is one of the most important things you can do for your body, both inside and out.
So there you go, 7 reasons to start your day with warm lemon water.

1) I heat 1 cup of water in the microwave for approximately 1 minute. Your microwave may take longer or shorter. Remember, the temperature of the water should be warm, not too hot or too cold. If your water is too hot it can destroy the enzymes of the lemons and if it’s too cold, it will not aid in your digestion.
2) I squeeze 1/2 a lemon into the water. You can use more or less lemon, depending on your taste preference, but I have found that half a lemon really works best for me. Do not use lemon juice from a bottle.
3) After drinking my lemon water, I always wait approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour before I eat breakfast. This will give the lemon water time to work its magic.
4) I love lemons and anything with lemons, so this is an easy ritual for me. I realize not everyone likes the taste of lemons. So it may take you some time to adjust to the taste.
Even if you don’t ever acquire a taste, the health benefits should be more than enough of an incentive to make this your daily ritual as well.
