Oh those dreaded New Year’s Resolutions. Anyone else with me? Oh good. I am not alone. When it comes to exercise I am not a resolution maker. I try to exercise 3-4 days a week throughout the year. Oh, don’t get me wrong. I do miss some workouts, but I don’t let that stop me.
Today, I want to share with you 5 tips to make it easier to crush your 2018 fitness goals. These are all simple tasks that will have a big impact on your overall fitness and well being.
Basically, we all know we should eat better and move more, but I also want to share a few more tips to help you out.
I have included some affiliate links for your shopping convenience.
#1 – INVEST IN PROPER WORKOUT WEAR AND SHOES
For whatever type of exercise you enjoy doing, always invest in the proper workout wear and shoes that are appropriate for that specific activity. Believe me, it can and does make a huge difference.
First of all, it will just make you feel better to be dressed appropriately. And finding the right clothing and shoes that fit you makes all the difference. Not all workout wear is for everyone.
I tend to gravitate toward yoga pants, long and capri length leggings, and coordinating tops and really good sports bras and socks. I love these Zella Leggings
They fit great and can be worn for a variety of activities.
I also love this Z Tee from Zella
You can also check out all their other active wear from Nordstrom.
I love the Brooks Running shoes. I have this pair of Adrenaline GTS 17 and I love them. I wear them for running, but also for other activities as well. A great shoe for the price.
There are so many brands out there to choose from, but I do feel you need to invest in a great pair of sneakers. This is your foundation and you need to be able to walk and move in the shoes comfortably. I know they can be a bit pricey, but it is well worth the cost.
Once you have a few pieces of great workout wear and some great shoes, you are basically set to crush your workout goals for 2018.
#2 – WORK OUT WITH A FRIEND OR CO-WORKER
Another great tip is to find a friend or co-worker to join you in a fitness challenge or just going to the gym. Having a buddy by your side will help you overcome any fears or anxiety of starting a new exercise program or class. Plus it can be fun to have someone else along with you.
Not only does it help you feel more relaxed, it makes you accountable as well. For instance, if you are trying to find an excuse not to exercise, you will have second thoughts because you feel obligated since your friend is counting on you and you definitely don’t want to let her down. So in reality, it’s a win win for both parties.
#3 – STAY FOCUSED AND DON’T SWEAT IT
Getting fit and or losing weight is a journey. It takes time to achieve your goals. Just remember to stay focused and on your goals. A good way to keep track of your progress is to journal everyday. Keeping a fitness journal and/or a food journal is a great way to stay on top of your fitness golas.
Also, another good way to keep you motivated is to invest in a fitbit. I have the Fit Bit Charge 2 and it really motivates me to move throughout the day. I always look forward to achieving my 10k steps for the day. Its like a little win each day.
Just remember……go at your own pace in whatever activity you are doing.
#4 – REWARD YOURSELF
For all those fitness goals no mater how big or small, I always reward myself. As women, we tend to reward everyone else around us and end up neglecting ourselves.
Take the time to invest in yourself. Go get a manicure or pedicure, or maybe that new outfit you have been wanting.
#5 – HAVE FUN!
And above all, just have fun and enjoy meeting new people and learning new exercises.
Remember, exercise and fitness is your journey. Go your own pace and just keep moving and I guarantee that you will see results.
I would love to hear from you what kind of exercise or health tips you have been doing or have incorporated in the new year.
