How to Organize a Kitchen Drawer into a Desk Drawer – Week 2 Challenge
Welcome back to the second week of our organization challenge! Last week, we tackled decluttering and organizing the kitchen drawers, and this week, we’re taking it a step further by repurposing one of those kitchen drawers into a functional desk drawer. Whether you’re working from home or just need a designated space for important documents and stationery, transforming a kitchen drawer into a desk drawer is a great way to maximize space and efficiency. Here’s how to tackle this week’s challenge:
Step 1: Empty and Clean
Start by completely emptying out the kitchen drawer you’ve chosen to repurpose. Remove all items and give the drawer a thorough cleaning. Wipe down the interior with a damp cloth or mild cleaning solution to remove any dirt, crumbs, or residue.
Step 2: Assess Your Needs
Before you start organizing, take some time to assess your needs for the desk drawer. Consider what items you’ll need quick access to while working, such as pens, notepads, sticky notes, and office supplies. You may also want to allocate space for important documents, such as bills, receipts, and correspondence.

Step 3: Sort and Declutter
Sort through the items you removed from the drawer and declutter as needed. Discard any items that are broken, expired, or no longer needed. Consider donating or recycling items that are still in good condition but no longer serve a purpose in your workspace. Click here to read about APPLE BARN & CIDER MILL.
Step 4: Create Zones
Divide the empty drawer into zones based on your assessed needs. Designate specific areas for different categories of items, such as writing utensils, paper clips, sticky notes, and documents. Consider using drawer organizers or dividers to help keep each zone neat and organized.
